Apt
Apt is not our favorite city, but it is located in the heart of a beautiful area ; despite some ancient streets Apt lost its charm over its urbanization. The Saturday morning market still has a certain reputation.
Saignon
Here is a very pretty village, just 4 km from Apt, with everything to make a picturesque city : stone houses, narrow streets, fountains, small cafes and restaurants.
In the village center, following the direction "rock of Bellevue", you reach the top of the rock overlooking the village where it offers beautiful views over the Luberon
The fort of Buoux
8 km from Bonnieux and 8 km south of Apt, Buoux is a very small village in a landscape of forests and possessing superb and famous cliffs for climbing.
2km from the village, we highly recommend visiting the fort of Buoux, which occupies an exceptional site and has remarkable remains.
The fort was inhabited and fortified from prehistoric times to the seventeenth century ; it was occupied by the Celtic-Ligurian, the Roman, crossed the religious wars, and as in the village of Buoux, had a Valdesian occupation .
The remains are numerous : troglodites habitats, silos dug into the rock, medieval fortress, church of the thirteenth century, city walls, stone houses, cobbled streets ...
The richness of the site, its unique situation give free rein to the imagination
The view from the fort embraces the entire region
Sivergues
For an idea of the "World's End" in Provence, in any case the end of the road, a detour of 11 km from Apt to reach the dead end where is nestled Sivergues.
Here, a few dozen people, children play safely on the half cobbled, half rock road.
In the 16th century, some families settled Vaud to cultivate abandoned lands, before undergoing the religious wars a few decades later.
